Pengage Trains Top state Civil Servants on Blockchain Technology

In a bold step toward embracing digital transformation and economic innovation, Pengage Finance, in collaboration with Edo State Government, organized a one-day capacity-building workshop to train senior civil servants on blockchain technology. The training, held on August 26, 2024, at the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy in Benin City, was spearheaded by the Commissioner for Digital Economy, Ogbeide Ifaluyi, and facilitated by Simeon Ogunnubi, CEO of Pengage Finance.

The initiative was designed to empower high-ranking officials, decision-makers, and technical personnel across Edo State ministries with practical knowledge of emerging technologies—particularly blockchain—as part of broader efforts to strengthen service delivery, promote innovation, and position the state as a leader in digital governance.

Delivering a keynote address at the event, Commissioner Ifaluyi underscored Edo State’s pioneering achievements in digital governance, noting that the state is the first sub-national government in Sub-Saharan Africa to fully implement e-governance and a paperless administrative system.

“We look forward to working with Intmax to develop practical solutions that will enhance Edo State’s ability to deliver key services,” said Ifaluyi. “This partnership gives us access to a secure and low-cost network that can be used for everything from payments to record-keeping. We are confident that our collaboration will yield tangible results while demonstrating Nigeria’s openness to blockchain technology.”

Simeon Ogunnubi, in his session titled “Blockchain Simplified for the Public Sector,” broke down the fundamentals of blockchain and its relevance to public administration. He also provided insight into the Nigerian National Blockchain Policy, highlighting its potential to drive job creation, financial inclusion, talent development, and digital innovation.

Further enriching the workshop, Philip Asaya, Country Head at Intmax, delivered a presentation on “Intmax Blockchain and the Public Sector in Nigeria,” where he emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting the Nigerian government with cutting-edge, scalable blockchain infrastructure.

Rounding out the lineup of expert speakers was Sven Moella, Chief Strategy Officer at Intmax, who explored the topic of real-world asset tokenization, explaining how blockchain can revolutionize the way governments manage, tokenize, and trade assets.

The workshop marked a significant milestone in Edo State’s journey toward digital transformation, setting the stage for deeper public-private collaborations that will unlock the full potential of blockchain in governance.
